$2000 Gaming Build

Approximate Purchase Date: About 2 months from now.

Budget Range: $1500-2500 (The wife would love it if it was closer to $2000)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Programming, *Would like to learn to do some audio editing*, Watching Blu-rays

Parts Not Required: Unfortunately, all parts are required. I am starting from nothing at the moment. *This will be my second build*
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any reliable sites really. I am most familiar with newegg and amazon.

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: Highest performance possible so preferably Intel.
Overclocking: Most likely not, and if so nothing extreme.

SLI or Crossfire: No preference.

Monitor Resolution: At least 1920x1080 anything after is a plus.

Additional Comments: Nothing too flashy, but aesthetics are an obvious plus.

As you can probably tell I am completely undecided about most of the parts as I haven't really kept up with everything new coming out and I understand this is a lot to ask everyone to come up with but I would greatly appreciate any help or advice. Thanks in advance.

  2. wait for ivy bridge.they are coming on 29th april.
  3. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6HCF

That's a good build. I'm gonna get an Ivy Bridge when they come out, but you will only see a 10-15% performance gain. The build I said is quite good, but the case can be changed out for personal preference. I like the case because it is quite functional and easy to work with.
  4. The performance gain doesn't come from that. It comes from full utilization of PCIe 3.0.
  5. ^that's why i am liking IB :P
  6. Appreciate the quick responses and the great info... You all made my first forum post here a great experience. Thanks!
