My computer is reading no boot device detected and i went into the BIOS menu and did a system check and it says no hard drive detected. Do i have to just replace the hard drive and if so what do u recommend? Is there any way to retrieve some files i put on the drive? My computer is Dell Vostro 220

You can try the drive in another pc to see if you can recover files otherwise you will need to send it out for recovery and that can be very expensive.

If the harddrive is indeed dead then you need to purchase and install a replacement and then restore your pc using the dell system recovery disks. And then uninstall all the bloatware; followed by reinstalling all the games, apps, and programs you had.
