Putting dvi output on hd tv

i have a male dvi to female hdmi adaptor plus a hdmi male to male cable plugged into a elonex 5" notebook and all i get on my hdtv is the wallpaper no taskbar no icons

your notebook is using your tv as an extended display.
try moving your cursor left or right until you see it on the TV. right click on dekstop and tinker with the display settings. you can set the monitors to mirror both displays or extend the desktop (no taskbar on one of the screens means its the extended display)
