Hi everyone i have a litle dillema...
I can get a pre build PC at local store for $350:

CPU:AMD A6-3670K OC'ed to 3.2 GHz (Integratet GPU is also OC'ed to 800MHz)(stock cooler)
GPU: Powercolor HD 6570 1GB DDR3 in crossfire with the APU
MB: MSI A55 MSI A55M-P35
RAM: 2x4GB Muskhin essential 1333MHz DDR3
PSU:thermaltake litepower 500W (not the best brand but it should do the trick....right?)
HDD: WD caviar Blue 500gb 7200rpm 16mb
Case: Thermaltake commander MS-1
Free copy of Windows 7 Home Premium

or this one for $380:

CPU: Intel Core SB i3 2100 3.1 GHz
GPU: Sapphire HD 6770
MB: MSI H61M-P22 (B3)
RAM: 2x4GB Kingstone HyperX 1600 MHz DDR3
PSU: Cooler Master 500W psu
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint 500gb
Case: Xigmatek Asgard II
Free Copy of Windows 7 Home premium
So which one is better for gaming at modest resollution (1440x900) and which one is better deal overall?
Or is there a chance i can build something better for around the same price (Up to $ 400 max)?

Second build without even thinking about it.

$400 isn't doable using Newegg, Tiger, etc but that's mainly due to HD prices. No way you could build your own and still be able to match that price.

why so? is hd 6770 stronger than 6570 crossfired? and isnt AMD A6-3670K quad core cpu?

Intel DESTROYs AMD in gaming. Most games don't use 4 cores anyways.

The APU is pretty weak, the 6770 will beat them.

Yeah the 2100 has two cores vs. the AMD's 4 but with hyperthreading - the way the cores are utilized on the Intel CPUs are far more efficient than on AMD. And it's always better to go with a single, stronger GPU than two weaker ones, I made that mistake, never will again.

Ah I've built my rig over the course of the last 3 years and got the GPU last week. I'd get the second one - the graphics on games are far better on PC than on PS3.

PS3 is fine for gaming, but a PC can do other things... it's up to you ;)

g-unit... how is it that you've been preaching Intel to everyone, yet you have an AMD CPU? Also, tbh, his build isn't that excessive... I'd price it at around... $1500? Possibly more since I don't know about the Vizio... $2000?

Also, someone needs to check the PSUs on your two builds... that's where most companies skimp the most, even though it's the most important part. I'm not good with PSUs, though :/

EDIT: Hold on, do you already have a decent computer you can use for email and other non-gaming uses? If not, then get a PC... it's not just for gaming. Other stuff like internet is important, too! (Yes, I realize that he must have a computer if he's on this forum, but maybe he's in a cybercafe? :ange:  )

Why do you think I've been preaching Intel to everyone?

I'm planning to upgrade over the next few months but I can't decide whether to go with X79, Ivy, or wait for Haswell (but that could take a year or two   ). If I go Ivy I'll only have to buy the motherboard and CPU - and possibly a new cooler - if I go Haswell or X79 I'll have to buy motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Decisions, decisions.

My work computer is based around Sandy Bridge (i3-2120, Gigabyte UD3P, 16GB RAM, Hyper 212, Crucial M4, Radeon 5800) so I do know what I'm talking about. I paid about $600 for my TV last year - got it at Costco on a closeout deal.

Yeah but the architecture is a little squishy. The potato has a more solid core.
