My power supply and HD 6850

Dear forum readers,

I'm planning to upgrade my HD 5670 to a HD 6850.

Here's a picture of my power supply:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

My question is: is my power supply good enough for this upgrade?

I know a HD 7770 has a smaller TDP (a 6850 has a max TDP of 127W).
But price/performance wise the 6850 is currently better. I really have no idea
how to change a power supply unit... any good advice?

my spec:
i5-2300
4GB ddr3 ram
HD 5670 GPU
2 gb TB SG barracuda green
DVD r/rw

My buddy is running a 6850 on a stock HP PSU 300watts and he has zero issues with it. Yours should be fine.

The most important thing really is the amperage on the 12v rail.

I used to run 2 x crossfire 6850s on a 600watt with no issues (if you're ever considering crossfire)

Thanks for the quick reply! Can I assume my "amperage" is sufficient?

I imagine the (6850) card will need an extra supply of power by using the 12v rail(?).
Should I use the YELLOW or YELLOW/BLACK cable ?

Are you using 4 pin to 6 pin converters or does your PSU have 6 pin connectors already?

Wire colour shouldn't matter, and chances are if a cheap HP PSU can do it yours will have no problem.

I'm not familiar with connectors so I used this random picture:

I checked the inside of my box and I saw a couple of free 4 pin horizontal (white) connectors and only one 6 pin (black) PCI-E.
(The white ones are clearly bigger than the black connector)

I read reports about 6850 videocards with two connector openings... would i be able to convert the white connectors into
6 pin ones ?

The 6850 i bought came with two 4 pin molex to 6pin power connectors (the one in the middle of your chart)

So I was able to convert my extra 4 pins in to the power for my GPU. There are some revisions of the 6850 which only need one 6 pin, some with two 6 pin and i think one with a 6 and a 8 pin.

I'll be home shortly so I'll post some pics of what I'm talking about. (shortly = 30-60 minutes)
