New CPU/MoBo/Ram

Last response: in CPUs
Share

I am passing down my current motherboard/CPU/RAM to my nephew as I plan to upgrade.

I don't care about overclocking at all.

I game pretty regularly, SWTOR, Diablo 3, and a few others, but no other heavy tasks to note. I will be keeping the 2 GTX 450s that I have in SLI right now, so I need an new SLI motherboard.

I've targeted the Core i5 (either Sandy or Ivy, non K) as the processor I want. (I hope I can get this in my price range) All non K i5's seems to get exceptional reviews.

Im looking for a basic motherboard that supports SLI that supports this CPU. I also need RAM that is compatible.

My budget is $250-300 USD

Any ideas? Really appreciate it.

Neither game is particularly cou intensive.
SWTOR recommends a G6960 :

Diablo 3 says core 2 duo @2.4

A $50 G530 would exceed those specs, but I would look at a $68 G630 :

A sli capable motherboard will cost you a bit more than normal. Here is a ASUS P8Z77-V LK
for $120 after rebate:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Ram is cheap, I would suggest a 8gb kit of 2 x 4gb ddr3-1600 low profile ram like this for $44:

Total $215.
Any of the faster i3 chips will be good if you want to use all of your budget
