Alright i was looking at the 6970 but then i noticed the 6950 here...Can someone PLEASE tell me what differences there are between these 2 cards besides the effective memory is just a tad slower on the 6950 then the 6970.

Hi there,

Well actually the 6970 has a higher specs than the 6950 is almost everything from memory to stream processors and texture units BUT.
in most cases you will not really notice a big difference if you arm your machine with a good powerful processor and ram speed and if not .. upgrading from 6950 to 6970 will certainly have a remarkable changes especially when fps average in high resolution (1920) is in the question.

and of course if you're just a gamer (I mean you don't use your pc for production rendering using maya and 3dsmax ..etc) then if I were you I'll pick always the high that I can .. HD 6970 is your best option.

if your targeting 3d rendering packages and you just play from time to time .. than 6950 could do the job .. but always keep in mind to get the less power hungry GPU.

hope this help.

6950 can reach within 6970 speeds with a decent overclock and usually use less power since the shaders only give about 1-3% performance increase.
