If its above a 6450 you need to put the Crossfire bridge on the cards.

What cards are you trying to Crossfire? And have you bough them? If they are midrange cards, you would be better off buying a more powerful single card.

Its done via Catalyst so no, don't need special software other than the AMD Catalyst driver.
