Will this case fulfill my needs?

Hi guys, this winter I'm going to build a new DX10 rig, and along with a new rig comes a fancy new case :D
My system I'm planning on:
C2D E6600
C2D motherboard
ATi r600 or G80 (Whatever's better)
1 DVD burner
1 (maybe 2) hdd
2 GB DDR2 RAM

Will this case suit my needs? I thought about the card being too long, and this case allows you to remove the lower hdd cage, and then I could use the other 3.5 inch bays for my drives.

That is an excellent case, btw...

I like TT's Toughpower W106, which should be more than ample for any overclocked PC running a single DX-10 card... it should even handle the dual GPU's...

As i understand it Nvidia's upcoming 8800GXT needs about 26A on it's own. So a 700w-800w with 4 +12v rials should handle it just fine.
WOW 8O
Are you joking? Those seem like extremely unrealistic and heafty requirements. I thought all the reports we were getting said 450 minimum. 700-800 watts seems overkill to me, but I know next to nothing about PSUs. If this is all true, can anyone recommend such a PSU to me?

Well, I can see what you're saying. It does seem absolutely ridiculous that anyone would need that kind of power simply because of a GPU upgrade, but alas, it's true. A good PSU, give me a price range and I can find you a good PSU.

Before I was hoping for less than $100 US, but now that I've seen these requirements I'm thinking about $150 US. Will this get me what I need? Sorry, I know almost nothing about PSUs. I need to take an electricity class or something :D

Don't worry about it, at least you're giving us the info we need to help you. Ok soo for around $150 I can find you this:

Now the thing is that PSUs of this kind of power generally start getting more expensive. I'd highly recommend looking around on newegg or tigerdirect for a PSU that you might like.

Nvidia has already stated that the cards will need a 450w PSU.
That's for a total system though, isn't it? Not just for the PSU. Why would I need 700-800 watts if im only using one of these things!

Ok, so you guys think around a good quality 550-600 watt psu would do the job well enough for me? Now that my heart isn't my heart isn't jumping out my chest to protect my wallet from the electric company, I can think much better

Yeahy, 700-800 watts is for like a server or SLI on a DX10 card. Don't worry, 500-600 watts should be good for you. Check out PC Power and Cooling, Seasonic, Antec and if you like modular then Enermax is the way to go.

I'm not convinced. I tried to run a 7900 GTX on the XClio 750 watt 4 rail power supply and it couldn't run it. One of XClio's engineers told me that the card needed more current than one rail could supply. I can't remember but I think each rail was rated to 15A or so. The Mushkin 650 has rail fusion so it can borrow from one rail to add to another rail that is in need of extra current. I've powered overclocked XFired 1900XTs and an overclocked Opty 170 with the 650 Mushkin with no problems.

Most quality and newer multi-rail PSU's support load balancing up to their rated specs...
Example. My Thermaltake Toughpower W106 modular PSU supplies 4 18Amp 12v rails, but the total of all combined rails is 56Amps, which can be supplied as 26Amps on one rail, and the other 30Amps distributed amongst the remaining 3 rails... ie. Load Balancing...

Read mpilchfamily's PSU post under his sig for enlightenment. Very informative!

And much less time consuming than a class. We can't have class here!

Remember, Quality over Quantity! Course, thats what my wife sez, and I don't believe her either!

Hey, so do I! Awesome. Yeah... that PSU... it's good, great price too. Although, if you're planning on going SLI in the future definitely check out a Turbo-cool from PC Power and Cooling.

It can be a little difficult to find. Its kind of tucked behind a target. Its a big white industrial-like building, very easy to miss despite the giant TIGERDIRECT.COM sign on it. Even I still go past it all the time not realising it.

I love how this thread went from talking about a Lian Li case, to a PSU, to the Tiger Direct in Naperville :D

Dante_Jose_Cuervo
The TD? It's behind the Target off of 59. You won't be able to miss it, it's HUGE.

a lil oxymoron going on there! lol :D
yeah i think i know where that is.... I know i have gone down that road

Obviously I understand load balancing since I mentioned the Mushkin rail fusion. But I also mentioned the XClio which apparently does not load balance (as per my experience and the comments of the engineer that claimed to spec the unit). My reply was to a general recommendation made by MPfamily rather than a specific unit and was made to show that not all high power units are created equal.
