so i recently purchased an asus n53sn over an n53sv. now, i fell in love with the n53sv screen (1900 x 1080) and prefer this resolution over the on i got in mine (1366 x 768). the n53sn and the n53sv are virtually the exact same system with slightly different specs (mine has better gfx card but n53sv has higher res screen). i have been shopping around and found that you can purchase a replacement screen (1900 x 1080) around $80 CDN.

every resource i have checked says that the replacement screen has to match specs of whatever was in there originally. however, screencountry.com says that they have had some customers 'upgrade' their screen and not have a problem. from what i understand it is limited to whether or not the gfx card can handle it.

n53sv (1gb GT 540m) screen res: 1900x1080

n53sn (2gb GT 550m) screen res: 1366x768

am i crazy for thinking that 'upgrading' my n53sn's screen to the higher res would work because it's essentially the same system but also with a more powerful gfx processor? do you know if this is even possible?

any insight would be so greatly appreciated :hello:

Hi, it looks like you will also need the cable that supports a FullHD screen resolution. This can be found at Asusparts in the EU for around 15$ plus 25$shipping. Then it should work fine.

Choose the one for your model of laptop, though I think they are possibly the same part for numerous different models of N53 versions.

If you find another source for the cable, let me know, so far its the only place I've found which sells it; not very convenient or economical for the location and costs.
