Hello, I would like some help with my newest build. I joined Tom's specifically for this but I think I'll stick around longer Anyway, on to what I would like:
Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next two months.
Budget Range: ~$1000, After rebates.
Aspects from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Social Media, Web Surfing
Parts Not Required: Keyboard and maybe a monitor – include a monitor if you can in the budget.
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.com; Tigerdirect.com; it doesn’t generally matter as long as it’s safe.
Country: America
Parts Preferences: I want to use an Intel i5 2500k if possible, I know Ivy Bridge is coming out soon however, I’ll watch out for it. But if you can give me a processor that works just as well for cheaper I’ll use it
Overclocking: Yes.
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe.
Monitor Resolution: 1080p.
Additional Comments: I’m hoping for a generally good gaming build that can run games like Skyrim or BF3 at ~60 FPS. MAYBE fraps with Minecraft (Not required). Anything that can do that and run smoothly for a relatively long time, 2-4 years. One thing I’m concerned about is that there is so many motherboards especially with the release of Z77, how would I go about picking one? Other than your recommendations any links to threads that I’m sure are here are appreciated. Any more specifications I’m lacking? I feel like I am. Anyway, suggestions are appreciated!
EDIT #1: ---- I knew I forgot something. SSD's. Are they truly needed? I know they boot programs an OS's faster but they are very expensive per gigabyte and I don't know if it is worth it to buy one along with my HDD.
Thanks!
