ok so help me out, i dont get much difference between a lot of graphics cards, so what are the differences?

and which set of components is better:

an i5 2500k with a MSI GeForce GTX 580 Twin Frozr II/OC 1536MB GDDR5
or an i7 2600k with a MSI GeForce GTX 570 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC 1280MB GDDR5

or for the best price should i just go with i5 and 570? this is just for gaming and maybe minor video editing

gtx 580 will be slightly better but gtx 570 will be more better for the price cheaper is the better way to go and an i5 2500k is one of the best cpu for gaming so it would be ok for my opinion i'd go with the gtx 570 twinfrozr iii it overclocks pretty well and stay quite and cool.

Here is a way to look at it. I think this is how your viewing it anyways. Sacrificing a better GPU for a better CPU or vise versa. when compare the two cards alone. there isnt much difference. the difference between the two GPU's are SLIM. (482 cuda vs 512 cuda) only about 20 cuda difference. I'd go with the I7 2600K if you can afford it. You'd be more Future Proof. oh and make sure you have a SLI ready Board and Power Supply. Then you won't really have to get anymore Graphics for a few years. By SLI

i5 2500k is close to the i7 2600k in gaming so no need to cost extra money.

Go with i5-2500k with GTX 570

Why? because it will be mostly enough for your needs, it will also save a bit of your money and it has Twin Frozer III.

Well Z68 will help only when the GPU is no longer working like sunnk said. If you have the money to get one of those, I'd rather invest on them.
