When you load Windows are you selecting "Custom" to choose your drive? This will say something to the effect that this is a fresh install. It will lead you to a list of drives available to load Windows. I've had no issues with my HDDs and a SSD already installed, and directing windows to load to the SSD only. If you have prior failed windows load or are using a drive you want to use for a fresh install, I would suggest formatting the drive right before you load windows in the custom install. If you don't, windows will retain all the previous data/install.

Make sure you have your Bios selected for AHCI first, b/c changing it later may cause issues.

What is it actually doing when you try to load windows and how far are you getting?

After you successfully load windows onto your SSD, I would suggest checking out this guide to free up space on it. I have a 64GB SSD as well, and you would be surprised how much indexing, searching, and page filling fills up your drive.
