Anyone else watching Euro 2012?

As normal, Scotland got mauled and didn't qualify, so I'm supporting France this time around.

Also is this even covered in America? I guess there might be more interest in the World Cup but maybe not the Euros because the US can't enter...

Speaking of getting mauled, did you watch Ireland vs Spain? [:pdxalex:1]
Not quite unexpected, I suppose... but difficult to watch nonetheless, as I was cheering for the Irish!

Yeah, it's covered in the US, albeit on ESPN2 which is a premium channel. I've watched every match so far!

GO GERMANY !! :D

I was happy to see Germany play better against the Dutch, as their performance vs Portugal was rather dismal! A very lucky outcome.

Surprisingly it is a big deal in the US. Although with all the other sports going on it's overshadowed a bit.

Yeah ROI were always going to get mauled against world champions - no surprise there.

I'm pleased there is some coverage in the US. Is that something that is just come about in the last few years? I've seen zero coverage of US football in the UK - I don't even know about any of your leagues. The focus is on the Premier League (England), Serie A (Italy) and La Liga (Spain) here. The SPL in Scotland too.

Football is an English game it did not originate in Spain

Actually, the presumed ancestor of football and rugby would Soule, a sport practiced in France and England from the twelfth century.
The rules of the soule have themselves been based on other ancient sports practiced in Rome (haspartum) and Florence (the Florentine calcio).

So even if the rules of modern football are English, it is incorrect to say that football is an English sport.
