Build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12278594

Purchase Date: This week.

Hey guys this is my first build and post, I'm a bit of a lurker. I've looked around a lot and put together what I could, but I'm obviously not an expert. I'd like to drop this build to around $1,000 while keeping the graphics card and processor, anything else is up for change I just gave it my best shot. If another hundred or so makes it that much better thats fine.

Ram could probably drop to 8, I'll be using the system for GW2, IDK if i'm overestimating/underestimating it, but I'm hoping to be able to run it on ultra across the board. a little bit of video editing, nothing special and some music. I intend one of the SSD's to be used for the OS-- Windows 7 pro 64 bit, chrome, java etc and the other essentials. Other SSD simply for GW2 and maybe a couple gigs of music (I know it's wasted space, but I really don't presume to be doing anything else with the computer, and I'll have more money to continue adding at a later date). documents, pics and what not will be handled on the laptop, so I assumed the 2 SSD's alone would be fine.

I really appreciate the help ahead of time.

TL;DR?

Build around $1,000 would be appreciated to play GW2 on max or as close to it as possible.

I tweeked your list a little and brought it down to $1125. this still keeps the ability to xfire as an upgrade. I could trim more out, but the Xfire option would be the first to go.

changes:
replaced the 2 x 64 Gb SSD with a solid 128gb one. having is too expensive and doesn't make sense for your described usage.
replaced the open box MB with a new less expensive one
replaced the case with a nice less expensive case that some good features and is still consider a silent case
replaced the tall heatsinked 16gb memory with normal height 8gb memory. you don't need 16gb in actuality 4gb is plenty for your described usage.

suggestions:
the regular 2500k is...

suggestions:
the regular 2500k is $10 less and has IGP if you are OC'ing any way save yourself $10 if you not OC'ing you can loose the hyper 212 the stock intel cooler is fine -saves $30
if you are not going to xfire go with a less expensive less powerful PSU like a corsair builder series 500 or 600 w PSU (save +$50)

the 6870 is a tried and true GPU, but it is getting aged and you might want to consider a new GPU such as the HD 7850 for $50 more it would be huge performance jump.

jerreddredd, your build is very good. I like the case and mobo that you chose. One other even less expensive motherboard option is the GA-Z68AP D3.

If you can wait a week, get the I5-3750k. It will run cooler, use less power, and perform better (especially with AMD graphics cards that use pcie 3.0) If you get the I5-3750k, get the 7850. Otherwise get the 6870. Also, the 8 gigs of ram is a good downgrade.

Hey guys thanks for the replies, Jerred I went with your build, I'm not too worried about waiting for Ivy atm, I think this'll do fine. I'm keeping the 750 because I do intend to xfire in the future. grabbed the 7850, and the 2500k, I'll be overclocking, but only minorly. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it a lot. Comes to $1164.90+ shipping.
