Computer Decreasing In Performance?

First things first, I remember being able to run Assassin's Creed Revelation on 1280x720 and to set everything on high with multi-sampling on (exception for shadow), I played it through and completed the game.

My specs:
i5 2410M (2.3GHz - 2.9GHz / 2 Cores / 2 Threads)
8 Ram DDR3 1333MHz
GT 540M 2GB

I've checked the requirements, and I definitely meet the recommended requirements. Now when I play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, I can barely run everything on high at 1024x768, and at the moment I'm running at lowest resolution for it to be at least around 30 FPS, lowest resolution.

If you check the performance on YouTube, they obviously perform significantly better, and some videos even show that GT 540M can run Assassin's Creed Revelation, I can barely run the game

Please help.

Have you cleaned your system lately of resource wasting crap and registry errors? Clean the system with CCleaner first to eliminate that possibility.

Defrag.

Do you have a lot of pgms running in the background? Run msconfig in windows and look under the start up tab. Only a very few boxes need to be checked. You can go here to see what you can eliminate.

You may want to uninstall the graphic driver, run Driver Sweeper from Safe Mode, and have it remove any Nvidia and AMD/ATI graphic driver remnants it finds. Re-boot and install the latest driver for your card and O/S.
