When a thread is removed ....

.... would it not be courtesy to posters who received an e-mail to say a post had been added, to leave the thread open so we can see what has been put up?

It got removed for a reason, one that generally should not be preserved forever in the google cache archives, but generally threads that get deleted have very few posts in them, often they are either the meaningless "hello" or duplicates that got a couple posts.
You will also run into issues following the link from the email if the thread got merged or moved to a different sub forum which is likely a more common issue.
