Crash dump

my computer will not run properly, it goes to a crash dump when I turn the compter on. error message: "attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed... tech info: stop 0x00000116 (etc...

I preformed an upgraded, without deleting the hard, of my operating system from vista to 7 but I have the same problem

I would download the newest driver from their website (AMD/Nvidia, depending on the card you have), then perform a clean install of it after uninstalling the old one.

wasn't able to download software from the AMD - catalyst install manager ..error message "failed to load detection driver"

Try a manual download, instead of using their driver detection. You could that on a different PC, as well, save the file then transfer it to this HDD.
