Which would give best preformance in general use (lots of photoshop, slight gaming, dvd ripping, almost as much flash as photoshop, ect)

939 3800 single core 2.4 ghz, 1 gb ddr 7600gt

or core 2 duo 6300 dual core 1.8 ghz, 2 gb ddr2 7600gt

im cant tell. while the c2d is dual core, its clock is only on par with say a 2.2 ghz amd if i am correct. however its memory would be quicker than the 939 getup. so basically is the dual core plus 2 gb of ddr2 gonna make this better or would the slower clock speed make it on par or just below the 939 rig?

E6300 >> X2 3800+. It's more or less equal to a X2 4400+, sometimes a tiny bit better.

Just by virtue of more RAM, the C2D system is going to be better.

EDIT: Oh, the SC 3800.
For multitasking and general use, you'll notice a big boost in responsiveness with dualcore. For single threaded stuff, the 3800 will be faster (2.4 = one core of X2 4600+). Even then, the C2D E6300 is hot on its heels.
