XBox 360 Cross-Conversion 720p>1080i for CRT's

The official XBox website states that ALL games on the '360' will
support 16:9, 720p and 1080i. However, I've read other interviews,
etc. which say that games will be required to run a minimum 720p
without mentioning 1080i. So does anyone have any more reliable and
clear information about what's going on here?

The reason I ask is because I've invested $3000 into an sweet HD CRT
(which in my opinion still looks better than LCD...I wouldn't touch
plasma with a ten foot pole for reasons other than quality...especially
when it comes to gaming), but unfortunately it doesn't support 720p.

I'm not looking for a debat about 1080i/540p and 720p, nor am I trying
to start a Mr. Mocho, "My TV's better than yours (because it's mine)"
thread, just wondering if anyone has dug up any information on how
1080i will be handled by XBox 360:
Required by developers?
Not required?
Cross-converted from 720p?

Thanks

Poll: Who else here has a CRT without 720p support? :)

My Trinitron CRT does both 720p and 1080i. I agree with you that there
still is no better picture than a CRT. Too bad they are so big and bulky
and the biggest screen size you can get is 40".

My impression is that 720p is the native resolution of the 360 and all
other resolution will be scaled as needed.

that's what I've heard as well. from the native 720p, it will be scaled
to 1080i.
but I don't actually know this for certain

My Sony doesn't support that resolution either... But correct me if I'm
wrong I think it automatically up converts to your desired resolution.

I've read that both 1080i and 720 will be standard... meaning that a gave
only has to support one of these resolutions. Xbox 360's setup (similar to
Xbox) will allow the user to select suitable out signals. So if your set
does not support 720p, Xbox 360 will convert 720p games to 1081i.
