FX 4170 vs Intel 2500k

How big is the difference between the Intel 2500k and the FX 4170 in FPS?. I expect to pair it with a 660 ti, and I was just wondering if it would really make that big of a deal in most games?

    thats the gaming cpu hirearchy

you can see in there that the i5 is better for games
  2. I know its better. I'm asking in the almost 40% increase in price is worth it.
  3. no. You might get a 5% increase in fps at the most.

Thank you. If what you say is true then I would get AMD. I'm not spending 40% more for a 5%-15% increase in performance
  5. You'll have to look for the 4170 in the benches here http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/amd_fx_8150fx_8120fx_6100_and_fx_4170,6.html , but it's close enough. The 4170 actually isn't THAT bad of a gaming CPU and can be OC'd quite well. I just wouldn't buy it personally, if I was doing anything besides gaming. The same goes for a SB Pentium G though.
