Athlon x3 455 vs q6600

Athlon x3 455 @ 3.5ghz or q6600(non go) @ 2.4ghz


Which wouldbe best for games in general.

In general the Athlon will be slightly slower clock for clock than the Core2. Being it's clocked over a gigahertz faster that more than makes up for it though. I would go with the x3 455.

Some games do better with quads but a higher clocked triple core is just as good or better in 99% of any situations I can think of.

You also have the option of at least trying to unlock the fourth core and some cache of the Athlon.

the athlon is faster. The q6600 is much much slower in gaming due to its slower clock speed.

I don't think you could tell the difference without benchmarks. And even then it would be slim.
I'd pick the AthlonII because, like stated above... it's a possible quad core if you can unlock it.
