I am new to the site so i hope this made it to where i would like it to go. I am seriously interested in getting into PC gaming, and i have no prior experience with this. I myself took the liberty of coming up with a build myself to the best of my ability. If anyone could please tell me if my parts would "bottleneck" each other, some other major concern or if i can find something of similar quality that is less expensive, as i am a teenager. Thanks in advance for at least looking at this.

Processor:( either the i3-2120k or the i5-2500k , Preferably the earlier because it is cheaper)

I was also wondering if you guys had any good suggestions for a monitor, 19-21 inch without being very pricy would be fantastic!

I'll make some changes. Could you use the sticky at the top of the subforum (the post that says "guide to posting new builds" or something like that) to let us help you more? What is your budget? Also, is the monitor included in your budget?

Anyway, here are the changes I would make:

Case: Either Corsair 400R or HAF 912... HAF if you have a lower budget
Mobo: THAT IS SO EXPENSIVE!! Get the ASRock Extreme4 Z77... still good enough
CPU: i5-2500k... just get it. It's worth it. Especially because I just saved you like $100 above
CPU cooler: you need one to overclock. Hyper 212 Evo at $35
GPU: One of the most important parts. Yours isn't good. If at all possible, try to get a 7850.
Memory: It's fine... may want 8GB, it's up to you
PSU: Great buy
HDD: Nice... upgrade to a 1TB for only $20 more:

No idea about monitors... sorry.

I could and would've used the sticky if i had any clue what that meant, yes I know you will have to be patient with me. I also want to point out I really appreciate your time in helping me. My budget is really flexible i believe i have no set amount. I am not willing to go over 1, 000 but I'm willing to spend up to around 800 or 900 if it' seriously necessary. I have a monitor my friend gave me, nothing to tell me what it is but the logo is "SVA" and the sticker on the top says "TCO '03 Displays." I would like my computer to run battlefield 3 at the highest settings i can get too with my budget so i hope someone else reading could help tell me if that monitor will be ok fo rthe game or if i should invest in a new one, I would use it for media of course and school work such as computer science. Battlefield will no be the only game but i figured that is the most labor intensive game i could be playing and naming others would be a waste. Also do your changes have a good upgrade path? i plan to use the thing for years and the easier the upgrading the happier of a person I am. Probably a run on in a few places to summarize Thank You ddan49, I will look tonight for what you suggested.

Hmm... I mean, the upgrade path for a CPU is never good... next year's CPUs won't be compatible with this motherboard. But that's every year... I mean, there's not getting around that. The GPU upgrade path is pretty open, and the RAM always has room for more. I'm fairly sure it'll last you.

If you're looking for something REALLY nice, try to get the 7870. The GTX 680 is out of your budget, though (before someone suggests it).

ddan49 is there any card that could suffice for the 7850 if need be, I didn't rule the 7850 out but the calc got $945 for basic prices. I understand if that it will last just would like to know my options. Thanks again.

Well... here's the lineup as I see it:

GTX 680 > 7870 > 7850 > GTX 560 Ti > 6870 > 6850

Try to get MSI Twin Frozr II OC for whichever one you get. GTX 560 Ti is still very good, and 6870 is sort of entry-level (it'll play any game at medium... high for some)

It was pointed out to me today by a friend (complete bonehead) who talked about something like Intel should be paired with GeForce rather than the Radeon card i have. I was wondering if this makes sense or is he talking complete nonsense.
