EVGA GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB or EVGA GTX 550 Ti 2048 MB

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: This Month

BUDGET RANGE: USD $150-250

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: I am Currently Beta Testing Tribes Ascend, but lookin forward to playing Guild Wars 2 and I also Play Star Craft 2 (+expansions)

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Current GPU: ATI 5570 HD 1gb PCIe, Current PSU: Rocketfish 500W, model number# RF-500WPS2

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: I run a Intel Core i5 Quad Core CPU, 4 gigs of DDR3(? can't remember exactly) RAM. Its a newer MoBo, bought it when I bought the CPU (last year around Sept.)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Not too much of a fan of internet sites, but link them if you got them!

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN:U.S.A.

PARTS PREFERENCES: I've used ATI cards (because most of them were either bought for me or what I could afford), but I would not mind trying something else. I heard that EVGA is a good company.

OVERCLOCKING: Never used OC

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: don't even know what these are..lol

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I want a card to replace my low-mid card. I want something that will allow me to game with ALL the graphics and still maintain a good FPS. I was linked a card: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0: linked at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130660&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=4176827&SID=1wuf4zoh3rztd

but I was looking around and I found this: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 2048MB Memory for the same price. Link here: http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=02G-P3-1559-KR&family=GeForce 500 Series Family&sw=

Any suggestions?

What model is your Core i5?

I would suggest going for a 6850 and a new Power supply.Your current PSU is of very poor quality and I doubt that it can deliver what it says it can.

A 6850 should allow you to play SC2 and other games of that nature on high settings. The 6850 is slightly faster than the GTX550ti.And it sits right about the middle between the GTX560.

    Sapphire 6850 $135 + Free Shipping

    Antec EarthWatts 500watt $65 + Free Shipping

Total is $200 so your are still within your budget. You could even get a 6870 which is as fast as the GTX560 but much cheaper.

Don't get the 550's they will let you down as far as preformance. I know because I have two of them and thay are OC'd and in SLI. Get the PSU and the 6850. that way you are still in your budget range.

You will see a good bit of difference between the two cards meaning your old one and the new one. I think Nvidia card are better on the high end meaing 560 and up. Any thing less is for AMD they cost less and don't require a lot of power. Good luck to ya
  3. 2GB on a 550 won't make much difference at 1080p. The 1GB 560 is by far the better choice IMO.

  4. With those two, totally the GTX 560 will be best at your resolution.

But you can get the same performance with the cheaper price by a 6870, AMD is better when it comes to sub-$200 in this generation.

  5. 6870 or the 560 is the way to go. The gtx 550 is not that great of a card.
