So I was wondering if I can crossifre a sapphire amd radeon 6850 and a gigabyte 6850. I hope this isn't a stupid question. thanks in advance :D

Solution
Yes you can crossfire the 6850 with the 6870 and it will run as a 6850. In the AMD cards the first two numbers have to be the same inorder to cross fire. And it doesn't matter what brand they are.

As long you use the bridge that came with the cards then you will have no problem with your bridge. Good luck to ya

There aint no tuch tang as a stupid quistion. ;) Yes you can crossfire they don't need to be the same brand just the same in there spec's just like you have.

Yes and this is not stupid question. As long as the VRAM Bandwidth and the architecture are the same you will be OK. You can crossfire 6870 with 6850 (But totally waste) but you can't crossfire 460 256-bit with 460 v2 192-Bit. So I hope you got the Idea that different brand can be crossfired.

Ok thanks. I hear before about crossfiring a 6850 and a 6870 and how the 6870 underclocks to match the 6850 which would explain why you need to have the same specs in order to crossfire. Thanks again! :D oh and also, if I crossfire them from different brands, will which bridge I use matter?
