Hello everyone, that is my first time asking anything here, my desktop is a core 2 duo e4600 2.4GHz and a gt 220 1gb, im not from USA and im going to new york in october to get new components, i think my processor is very weak, and maybe is bottlenecking my Graphic card, so i was thinking on a fx 4120(4.2 GHz) or a i5 at least 2500k or a 3550(something like that) on I can buy the fx for $ 130 and the i5 for $220, i have $500 to spend, so my question is should i get a fx 4120 and then more RAM and a good graphic card or not getting a graphic card and get the i5 ?
my monitor is '19 and max resolution 1440x900 not so big.
so i wonder if i get the fx ill get a hd 6850, if i get the i5 ill stay with the gt 220.
Thank you for your help!
good night.
EDIT: Im open to suggestions also, and a friend advised me to get a i3 2120 instead.
thank you for the help

Well if those are the only options I'd get the i3+hd 6850.You will have a good machine without going bankrupt. Keep in mind that you will need a new motherboard for whichever CPU you choose and also some DDR3 RAM.

Your processor is in socket T or LGA775. You will be hard pushed to find a better alternative that will just drop in your board so any upgrade is going to be CPU + motherboard + memory.

Unless you really want to overclock then there is no need to get a 'K' suffix chip.

You should be able to get an i3, a compatible motherboard and 4GB of DDR3 as well as a decent graphics card like the HD6850 within your budget.

Without knowing what you want your machine for or what you expect from it, it is difficult to give much further advice.

I know about the motherboards but i was just in doubt of the processor

If i get the intel i would get this: asrock z77 extreme4 lga 1155 + corsair vengeance 8gb (2x4GB) plus the processor,

if i get the amd i would get that: asus M5A97 AM3+ or Asus M5A99X AM3+ and corsair vengeance 8gb (2x4GB)

oh.. before i forget... i want it for gaming
and as i said my max resolution is 1440x900 and i want to play mostly black ops with no lag, battlefield 3 and maybe the 4 when released, black ops 2, medal of honor and some new games.
Thank you again.

EDIT: i have $500 to get motherboard, processor, memory and maybe a graphic card, actually i have more than that but I can bring from the US just 500 in eletronics =/
that is very bad but ill get the other components in brazil, if needed, i dont think i will need kkk =D

I opted for the z77 because I was told that the Motherboard was very good.
so im in doubt now between the i3 and i5, the i3 2120 is $130 while the i5 is $220.
will getting i5 or i3 make a huge performance difference? and if i get the i3 will it bottleneck ??
thank you again.
