Which HD 7970 brand?

I want my card to perform as well as a GTX 590. I'm not sure whether to buy the ASUS or Gigabyte, the Gig is factory overclocked whereas the ASUS isn't. Is the Gig overclocked by much, or is it a weak overclock?

Opinions needed. :D

More about which 7970 brand
  1. Personally I take ASUS over Gigabyte any day, but that's primarily because I have better experiences with them. Try looking for the 7970 DirectCUII model, I believe those are always slightly overclocked. Moreover, they are very silent compared to the stock coolers.

Wow, they've clocked it at 1 Ghz, that's pretty badass!
  2. XFX!
  3. Wait for Twin Frozer III to overclock or IceQ X for quietness!!!!
  4. I have to buy from this online store here, because it is where I have store credit at (returned a gtx 590).

So I am going to buy this card here, I think.

I could probably overclock it past the 1Ghz mark.

Depends how long that is going to be, I am using onboard graphics right now, kinda sucks... a lot.
  6. $750 AUD???? Are you kidding me?

    :o

I'm not sure, maybe 1 or 2 months. If you can't wait I'm really not recommending anything yet for a 7970 really from pccasegear... By the way if you are not bothering to get reference cooler, you can get this instead of that $750 business...

HIS cards are fine, they should at least overclock to 1Ghz at decent temperatures.

That's a cheap price here in Australia. :na:

You should see the GTX 590's

They aren't as bad as they were a few months ago, but they're still pricey.

It's ridiculous considering the aussie dollar is worth more than the greenback.

Probably going to go with the Gigabyte, just for the awesome cooling it has. I can then further overclock it.
  8. OK go for gigabyte, seems to be best from there :).
  9. i'd go with a great 7950 instead because they are alot cheaper, this is the best 7950 yet http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=19284
