Hi been lurking for past couple of months. Must admit very overwhelmed from the get go. But through a tad more reading and searching I have gained the confidence to build my own. With anticipation of Diablo 3 literally right around the corner here goes. I originally started with a 1500$ budget but decreased not because I have to but I am all about the bang for the buck conept. I also feel the I3 2120 is plenty of juice for Diablo 3 general browsing, music, etc. If I am wrong please feel free to school me on stepping up to i5 2500k! Here goes!

Antec 300 Illusion
Asus VS series VS228H-P 21.5 monitor

Intel I3 2120 3.3 ghz (i5 2500k if necessary, as stated this is only built for Diablo 3 being hardest pushing this rig)
AsRock H61M/U3S3
Saphire Radeon 6850 1 Gb
G.Skills Ripjaws 8 Gb 2x4 240pin DDR3 1333
Corsair 500W psu
Samsung Seagate spinpoint F3 500 Gb (seems like good performace/$ ration but is my least researched component)
ASUS CD/DVD

Total in shopping cart so far 744$ Feel free to let me know your opinions and I very much appreciate any advice in advance!

I would go with a better motherboard and faster ram and a slightly bigger psu. That video card ís recommended to have a minimum of 12volt @40 amp and the psu you picked does not have that I will list a couple psu's that do. If nothing else get the upgraded psu because if you do not have enough power you will damage your pc. Also do not forget the cpu cooler you can get a good one for 25 or 30 bucks.

One more piece of advice advice if you like to tinker and upgrade I would for sure upgrade the motherboard and ram now because if you do not do it now you will be doing it later.

Thank you I will look into upgrade for psu. It was my understanding that with the i3 2120 it doesnt utilize 1600 ram? Thought that if i were to install 1600 ram with one of the nicer mobos listed above it would just back it down to 1333? Could deffinetly be wrong here, I am new lol. Thank you! I am in the middle of inet building an i5 2500k with asrock extreme3 gen 3. But like I said in my first post I think it is overkill just not sure yet!

I don't believe it utilizes 1600 mhz ram either. also, I'm fairly certain that 500w is more than enough for a 6850. check the product description for the card as to the reccomended wattage. Lastly, the stock cpu cooler will work fine, since you won't, and can't overclock that cpu.

i have bumped up the psu to a 600w. Also how do you guys feel about the cpu/gpu combination for my intended purposes? Capable of max settings on a game like Diablo 3? I havent touched a pc for gaming since counterstrike 1.6 and old geforce cards!

The i3 is great for gaming and the gpu is good as well.

I have the Asus 6870 overclocked from the factory and it is only 25 dollars more than the 6850 here is a review with benchmarks of the two cards side by side. Yeah man if you are happy order it up and good luck.

well just made an order to get me started!
ASUS VS Series VS247H-P Black 23.6" 2ms LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor was like 150$ 48 hour sale newegg
of course windows 7 64 bit
ocz cs 650 W psu 45$ 48 hour sale and mib
corsair vengence 2x4gb

Now debating case mobo and cpu.
I originally was goign to keep it to only maxing Diablo 3. But I figure if I up it to the i5 2500k I will go ahead and get a gpu to max bf3 also. Still up for debate, going to take the next couple of weeks to think the cpu/mobo through. Any advice appreciated thanks for the time!

Great price on the psu!! only thing is you may want to order some cable sleaving. The rainbow colored wires are pretty ugly.

yea that rainbow *** doesnt bother me lol. Im actually an electrician and one of my pet peeves is sloppy wiring. Although building pcs is a new venture it will be extremely clean!
