Hi just bought 7970 using MSI afterburner for the first time. graph is "kinda" confusing what would be the best fan speed with temp graph setup?? Thanks even showing your would be helpful

The simplest thing to say is that it depends on your preference. I'd recommend having the fan at 100% by 80C might be a good balance for noise reduction.

Personally, I have my XFX BE 7970 set to hit 100% fan usage at 60C, ramping up linearly from 30% fan at <= 40C. However, I game with headphones, so I don't care about noise.

500 is fine - it doesn't really change anything except how fast it checks to see what the fan speed should be

So, at 500, it will check every half second (500ms) to see if it needs to raise/lower the fan speed, which is just fine (I think I have it set to slightly slower than that - maybe 1000).

I haven't made a fan profile in a while, but when I was running reference coolers on my 5850s, man, I'd never ever let it hit 100%. Waaayyyy too loud. Even 80% was super loud.

I usually had it sit at 30% up to about 45C, then jump to 40% and ramp it up to 60% by 70C, then a sharp incline up to 80% at 80C, and stayed at 80 from there on out. I found a profile like that gave me the best performance/noise ratio as it only really got loud if I was really pushing it hard.

I take it the shader and the core voltage are for overclocking only because there both set to zero

Yes - shader & core voltages are only for overclocking. If they're set to zero, it just means you don't have afterburner configured to let you change them (by default, Afterburner won't let you mess around with voltages).

I dont know what i was actually thinking not ever using this msi afterburner to begin with. feel like a complete tard cause i used to use amdoverdrive on the CCC and had to always manual control my fan speed. This is great best program any gamer could ever need!! Thanks for all your input i ran BF3 on ultra settings never went over 60c

People overclock because they aren't running any game on maxed settings :)

Or, just to crush a benchmark and grow their e-peen :na:
