It's been a few years since I've built any systems or did any desktop gaming. So I am a little outdated with all the hardware. With the release of several games I have anticipated, I have decided to build a new system. From doing some research, it looks like the i5-2500K is the way to go for gaming systems. I'm still debating the video card and monitor and other things, but looking to start with the i5-2500K. Looking forward to any and all advice. Thanks!

  1. Wait until next week when Ivy Bridge releases and see if it's any better, then post up!
  2. Thanks for the reply. I do plan on waiting until IB comes out to see if does anything with the prices. But other than that, I'm still trying to piece together the GPU and other stuff.
  3. The 7850 and 7870 are great cards for the price right now.
  4. Thanks again for the quick response. I have been looking at the 7850HD cards. With quiet a few different brands sporting the same card, is one better than the other? For example, Asus, Sapphire and Power Color?
  5. Sapphire, MSI, Gigabyte, and XFX are all very good cards. I'm biased towards the Sapphire, but it beats the XFX in terms of temperature and noise!
  6. Excellent. Could you throw me a couple suggestions for power supply and hard drive? Thanks again.
  7. TX650, HX650, AX650 from Corsair, or Seasonic X-650. :D
