Hi community,

I have always wonder what brand power supply does Dell XPS 8300 uses. After days of research, checked the UL registration number and found out that its from Huntkey. Everyone saids Huntkey is very bad brand for power supply. Is it really that bad? How bad is it?

I am not sure about which particular power supply from Huntkey, but its a 460 watts power supply according to the power supply label, and it saids "Dell".

Uhh, I see. So like a 460 watts is more like a 350 watts? But its weird that it have two 6 pins power connector on it.

Right now i have a HD 6770, mid-range video card, need one 6 pin power connector. Was planning to upgrade to a GTX 660 or HD 7850. But after doing all the research, I might have to change my mind...

Umm, I have been using this system for a year now, but it seems to run fine... But i am not totally sure, Dell tends to underrate their PSUs from what I heard from some articles. Ugh, this is confusing. :/

Unbelievable
Dell uses several psu oems ; Delta, Liteon, Acbel, Huntkey
they are all built to the same specs

The system has been sold with an HD 5870 and GTX560Ti, won't be a problem to upgrade your current card to a 7850, have yet to see power figures for the 660 but I figure it's probably the same as the 560

Take a look here to see how efficiency actually works

It should be the same power as the GTX 560. The GTX 670 uses the same power consumption as the GTX 560 Ti, there's no way that the GTX 660 will use more than that. But I am not sure if Nvidia is releasing two GTX 660s (GTX 660 non-Ti, GTX 660 Ti).
