Hello,

It's been a while since I last posted on these forums, real life really got laggy lately.
So I decided to finally build a new rig. The main question is, "Where am I wasting money?"
Ah yes, please note I am from Italy, and buying from an Italian store, but everything should be understandable, numbers are an international language after all and if you'll scroll down you'll even find everything in English :ange: .

Buying within a week or two

Budget 1200 euros, about 1600$

CPU
Intel - Intel Core i7 - 3820 10MB 3.6GHz Socket 2011 Box SROLD
http://www.hrw.it/componenti-e-networking/intel-core-i7-3820-10mb-3-6ghz-socket-2011-box-srold-uw-0-2079-292552.aspx

MOBO
Asrock - Asrock X79 Xtreme3 Socket 2011
http://www.hrw.it/componenti-e-networking/asrock-x79-xtreme3-socket-2011-uw-0-2076-291437.aspx

HDD
Seagate - Seagate HARD DISK Barracuda 2 TB 7200 64MB SATA3
http://www.hrw.it/componenti-e-networking/seagate-hard-disk-barracuda-2-tb-7200-64mb-sata3-uw-0-1695-292397.aspx

RAM
Geil - Geil Kit Dual Channel DDR3 16GB (4x4GB) 2400MHz Evo CORSA CL11
http://www.hrw.it/componenti-e-networking/geil-kit-dual-channel-ddr3-16gb-4x4gb-2400mhz-evo-corsa-cl11-uw-0-2084-292382.aspx

Cooling for the CPU:
Intel liquid cooling for socket 1155/2011
http://www.hrw.it/componenti-e-networking/intel-sistema-a-liquido-per-socket-1155-2011-uw-0-635-292361.aspx

CASE. Either going with one of these two
Cooler Master - HAF 932 - BIG Tower BLACK no PSU Advanced USB3.0
http://www.hrw.it/componenti-e-networking/haf-932-big-tower-black-no-psu-advanced-usb3-0--uw-0-1610-164575.aspx
or
Cooler Master - CM Storm Trooper
http://www.hrw.it/componenti-e-networking/cm-storm-trooper-uw-0-1610-287734.aspx

And with this I've hit the 1200 euros limit.
I already have an atx 500watt source and this,

EVGA GeForce GTS 450 Superclocked 1024 MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI SLI Ready Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1452-TR

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Superclocked-Mini-HDMI-Graphics-01G-P3-1452-TR/dp/B0041RRNDK
(maybe will go with sli later on)

So far, I think my only problem is that my monitor only goes up to 1440x1200
and the fact that I don't have win7 but only xp, which pretty much renders my 16gb of ram almost useless I think. (planning to buy win 7 as soon as I get more money/ idk when that will happen, probably june)

Thoughts?
Thank you.

I'd scrap that whole build - the GTX 450 is not only four generations old now but it's a major power hog and I wouldn't trust a closed liquid loop even if it is branded by Intel. 2 x 8GB isn't workable for X79 - you will need a 4 x 4GB or a 4 x 8GB configuration to use the quad channel configuration. I wouldn't reuse your PSU either - with any modern GPU you will need a PSU that's certified and rated at least 600W or better.

On a 1,200 € / $1600 build X79 isn't really properly achieved - you have to cut corners somewhere to get the motherboard and CPU and I certainly wouldn't cut corners on the GPU.

Here's how I would spend it. That site was a bit difficult to navigate for me but this is the best I could come up with:

Case: Corsair Carbide 400R - 97,50 €
PSU: Corsair TX750 V2 - 116,40 €
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 - 141,30 €
CPU: 3.30GHz Intel Core i5-2500K - 211,50 €
Cooler: Noctua NH-U9B - 49,90 €
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 1.5V - 50,20 €
SSD: 64GB Crucial M4 - 90,30 €
HD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB - 80,90 €
Optical: Samsung 22X DVD Burner - 16,50 €
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 - 335,00 €
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium - 91,52 €

Total: € 1.281,04 (€ 1.189,51 without OS)

Hmmm, bah I knew something was wrong xD even though this is my first build ever. On a side note (even if I get that's not the problem here) the ram is 4x4Gb.
Thank you :)
