Can I swap cables?

So this is my PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016 and I was wondering if I could swap out the red 6pin cable for another one? Like just go to the store and buy one. The red one goes into a 12v3 port, do I just need to make sure it would work with a 12v3?

It is a modular PSU so it should work, though I'm not sure where you'd find that cable by itself (maybe online or through the vendor). Why do you want to do this?

Because the cable that came with the PSU is incredibly wrong. It doesn't allow the PC to boot up.

If you have a bad cable you might check with the PSU maker to see if you can get a replacement.

OK then. It's just that this particular cable isn't a "standard" sort that's easy to find at any random Radio Shack, like a Molex power adapter or SATA cable or whatnot. The supply is more limited. You might search Google for a replacement if the PSU maker won't do it, and that's all can suggest for now. At the moment I'd wait for a response before looking.
