Graphic Card to use for HDMI

Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards Graphic Card to use for HDMI

I have an old desktop that my parents want to use to hook up to the TV. It's a XPS400 with the most basic specs running windows XP. Can someone recommend me a graphics card that would work for this? I searched around on newegg and got a wide variety of prices so not sure where to go with this.

Thank you.

I guess your parents just want to watch movies. The following Radeon HD 5450 should be fine for that. It is silent and uses very little power.

The following nVidia 8400GS is cheaper, but requires a little more setup. Unlike the above Radeon HD 5450, this card does not have a built in audio processor. When connecting the HDMI to the HDTV you will not get sound unless you connect the audio card to the 8400GS with an audio pass-thru cable.
