I am putting together a desktop in anticipation for Guild Wars 2's near release. I hope to play the game on near high settings. Here is what I have put together:

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

CPU: Intel i5 2500K Overclocked to 4.5

GPU: 2- ASUS Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express Dual DVI/HDMI Video Card with Eyefinity EAH6870 DC/2DI2S/1GD5 Crossfired

Computer Case: COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1 Black Steel/ Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL

PSU:KingWin Lazer Power Supply 1000 Watts with Universal Modular Connectors/3 Way LED Switch/80 Plus Bronze ATX 1000 Power Supply LZ-1000

HDD: Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200RPM 2 TB SATA 6 GB/s NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive

Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler (RR-212E-20PK-R2) W/ Arctic Silver 5 Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound Paste 3.5g

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit

Anybody have any input?

Yes that's right. You don't need 16gb of Ram though, 8gb will be plenty.
PSU? Get a Corsair 850W/or something like that. 1000w is overkill.
evrything else is fine.

good build i would suggest the following changes-
1-Z77 boards are out.they are more 'futureproof'.i would suggest this gigabyte board-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
2-a single powerful card>two weaker cards.sapphire dual fan 7950 is a great deal-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
3-HAF X is a great case but not required unless you are going to do heavy watercooling.i would suggest carbide 500r-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
4-ram is overkill,go with this 8gb kit-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
5-get this psu-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
it's reliable and powerful enough to take care of 7950 CF and overclocks.
now it's good.

I have modified my build according to feedback on this site and others:

MOBO:GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU: Intel i5 2500K Overclocked to 4.5

Computer Case: COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1 Black Steel/ Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case (I love the look and size of this Case.)

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL (I got this really really cheap with combo deal on newegg, at the price of the 8GB)

PSU:KINGWIN Lazer LZ-850 850W Modular 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC W/ 3-Way LED Switch and Universal Modular Connector Power Supply (Because its shiny)

HDD: Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200RPM 2 TB SATA 6 GB/s NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive

Cooler: ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit

For the Video Card Im confused whether I should get the GTX 680 because its Out Of Stock everywhere or the Radeon 7970. My price range for the Video Card is $500 now. Id like one that I could crossfire later if needed. I could just wait and buy the video card last and get the GTX 680.

excellent board no doubt!

will cut through any thing you throw at it.

still i won't recommend that case.byt if you really like it then no problem. ;)

just make sure it is low profile ram.

every shiny thing isn't gold   if you want a good looking psu then you might wanna take a look at xfx units.they are very attractive IMO.this one is definitely better than the one you selected-

HDD: Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200RPM 2 TB SATA 6 GB/s NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive

one of the worst drives IMO.for $10 more,go with samsung f4 2tb drive-

Quote:
Cooler: ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

no offence but that is not worth $50+!this noctua cooler is a great deal for $50-

nvidia has stopped the production of 580 and other 5xx cards.they are working on 6xx especially 680,so i hope them go get restocked soon.680 is a great but for $500 budget.wait is worth.

Okay I altered my HDD, Cooler, and PSU to your recommendations. I still have another 2-3 weeks before I have enough money to purchase, so hopefully the GTX 680 will be out in full supply. What are your recommendations of using the I5 2500k vs the soon to be released Ivy Bridge Equivalent. My Budget is about 1800 for everything, os, Monitor and all the components.

What do you mean low profile ram?

Is this low profile? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

So I guess I am pretty much set, one last thing, you don't recommend Haf X Case just because its too big? Is there anything functionally wrong with it?

I am mainly looking for a Nice looking case with red LED and a side window.
I will be adding additional lighting inside. I would prefer green or yellow, but it seems my options are blue or red.

HAF X seems to be a bit more expensive and not a necessity.you can get the job done by buying a cheaper case and focusing more on your core components.if you a good looking case then nzxt phantom is a great choice-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
but if you want something with rugged looks then in win dragon rider white limited edition-

I decided to take your recommendations into consideration and changed my case. I lost my deal on the 16GB of ram because I changed my case.

My new Case.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I am changing my ram to this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I am also looking at other Z77 boards. Hows this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Should I stick with what I had or not. Im trying to save on components and matching colors so I can really deck out the interior with accessories.

phantom is one of my favorite case.good decision for the case.that ram may be good but crucial has the least possible failure rates.it's worth extra 2 bucks.for motherboards-
1-Asus
2-Gigabyte
3-MSi and Asrock.
UD5H provides great features for a reasonable price tag.i won't recommend changing it unless you can tell me a solid reason.

I was just being cheap, I guess I shouldn't cut corners with such a high expense system. I changed back to suggested MOBO and changed to crucial RAM. I was also deciding based off color schemes. I guess I should choose based on reviews and specs and not color. I added a bunch of orange led fans and led strips to compensate. BTW Crucial has an Orange LED RAM.
