Sound Blaster Recon3d Fatal1ty won't play the front speakers

Hi guys,

I've got a brand new Sound Blaster Recon3d Fatal1ty that will only play the front speakers at very low volume in either 5.1 or stereo mode. System volume is set at max, and amp volume is set at about 50%. If I set it in 5.1 and test the center channel, that comes out at the volume I expect as do the rear surrounds. The fronts are just very quiet though, to the point of not really being able to hear them in game with other noise going on. I'm using the latest drivers d/led from the Creative website, 01.02.1022, on a fully patched Win 7 x64 install. Any thoughts?

Hey Bob,

Your not alone here, Ive have many problems with sound blaster drivers in the past, I currently own a Recon3d Fatal1ty (against my better wishes) and i lose miscellaneous functionality periodically. The problem is that creative makes very nice equipment but their drivers are a terrible excuse for software. Your best bet is to completely remove the drivers and reinstall them. Follow the link below for instructions on how to do this.

If you feel like tracking down an old copy of DriverSweeper you can follow this link to get you started. Ive use DriverSweeper to clean up drivers when new ones come available.

So, after you get them uninstalled, just reboot your computer and let Windows 7 do the rest. I would recommend against getting any drivers other than the ones digitally signed by Microsoft, unless you know exactly what your doing.
