Bandwith of Ram's in mother boards

my mother board is of ddr2 version. and the ram has a bandwith upto 4gb. what will happen if i use ram of 6gb total ? (1 slot 2gb and another slot 4gb)

    Absolutely nothing.

    The reason it has a limit of up to 4GB is because it cannot recognize more than 2GB sticks in each slot. If you put in a 4GB stick odds are it won't pass POST as it will believe it has invalid memory.
