I3-2120 vs i7-2600

Hello again!

I have a dilemma. Should I buy new i3-2120 for 3k CZK or used i7-2600 for 5k CZK?
I want to go with GeForce GTX 550 Ti as gaming/programming PC.
(Is it even worth to go with 2600 and such GPU?)

Do you think it is dangerous to buy used CPUs? The price is really appealing to me, because 2600 is twice as much powerful than 2120 (according to cpubenchmark.net)

In how much time will be 2600 at the same ladder position amongst other CPUs as 2120 is now?
I see two scenarios:
1) Buy 2120 now for 3k and 2600 for 3k in two years. ----- Go with that for four years and 6k CZK.
2) Buy 2600 now for 5k. ----- Live with it for 4 years for total of 5k CZK (and better cpu for first 2 years).

I hope you see what I mean.
Any help will be appreciated :)

hi, core i7 are solid CPU, Unless the person who owned it is a total retard, the used cpu should be fine.

But for gaming the core i5 w gtx 550 ti should be ok for now but not future proof

When I say ok, you will play most games but maybe not full res. and such.

Depends if your on a limited budget :pt1cable:

there is no reason to get anything more than an i3 2120 with a 550ti unless you are using multithreaded apps and would need an i7 for that.

the 660ti is a few weeks, you have a longer time for the 650 and its releases.

Nothing is ever futureproof.

What faster CPUs that are faster than needed today have over slower CPUs that are only adequate is longer potential useful life. Depending on how people use their PCs, an i3 might have a useful life of 2-3 years while an i5 might be 3-5 and i7 be 4-6.
