Which is better for speed of multitasking(internet research and word processors/powerpoints), graphics rendering(CAD and other engineering software), and video editing?

Your first step I would think would be to contact your school and see if the engineering software you will need is even available on a mac.

the p150 has a slightly better processor and gpu but only 128gb of HDD space whereas the MBP has 256GB...

Honestly I would go with the Clevo (I love mine) and drop down to the 670m GPU since there isnt much that it cant play that the 675 can and put that $100 toward a bigger ssd or secondary storage.

The best bang for mobile gpu is probably the 7970m. There isnt much it cant run at ultra at all. Sadly its about a $200 upgrade.
