Why can't I set 1920x1080 desktop resolution with HDMI 1.4a on 7970?

I just got a new 1.4a HDMI cable for my Samsung PX2370 and AMD 7970. The maximum resolution available right now is 1920x1080 on my desktop, but when I choose it, it always falls back to 1650x1050. In Catalyst Control Center 1920x1080 option is not even visible, max available resolution is also 1650x1050. When I switch to DVI 1920x1080 works no problem. How can I fix it?

Thank you.

The first thing I'd check is that in your monitor settings under input>HDMI that the aspect ratio isn't defaulted to something like 16:10 or 4:3 (in which 1650x1050 is probably the highest resolution your monitor supports at 16:10).

16:9 would be the setting you are looking for at your monitor's native resolution.

Outside of that you can create a custom resolution of 1920x1080 and see if it will accept that.
