But looking through the guides, google, amd website, etc... I haven't been able to find the answer. I remember when crossfire first came out you had the connector you had to use to bridge both cards together. I have a 6950 and have recently ordered another and will be using crossfire for the first time. Do you still need the connecter to bridge the cards together or is it just plugging both cards in to the PCIe slot now?

Yes you need the connector and most cards come with one
