Intel Xeon E7-8870 vs Intel core i7 2600K

Hi all I wanna buy a Processor for Video Transcoding: MPEG-2 to H.264
and Video Transcoding: MPEG-2 to H.264/AVC
and I don`t know which of these processors(Intel Xeon E7-8870 or Intel core i7 2600K ) I should buy
I wonder if anyone help with these and recommend me the best .

The i7 2600k would be your best bet, unless you have like a server board for the Xeon, but the 2600k will more then likely be more then enough. Then Overclock it just because you can, lol

Xeon you selected is a quad channel RAM requiring a LGA1567 set-up..
that's already outdated and no longer in production.
so unless you have the hardware already buying that now is a waste of money and your time..



Ok so if you wanna compare core i7 2600k with a xeon in Video Transcoding: MPEG-2 to H.264
and Video Transcoding: MPEG-2 to H.264/AVC
which Version of Xeon do you recommend ?

is there a intel processor that works better than i7 in video tanscoding ?

If you are talking about processors that share the same micro-architecture like the Intel® Core™ i7-2600 and the Intel Xeon® E3-1275 you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between this as far performance goes. Now an Intel Xeon E5 or an Intel Xeon E7 can share the same micro-architecture but have an extra set of instuction to allow them work in a dual or quad processor set up. So until you were looking to be a dual processor set up high end work station you really arent going to get a better purchase value on then a processor like the Intel Core i7-2600K or the Intel Core i7-3770K.
