You would want the OEM 64-bit of course.

Windows 8 should in the theory be better at gaming due to lower system requirements than Windows 7.

All your files and games are stored on your harddrive, not the MOBO or CPU.

"If I use a Windows 8 Upgrade disc/download to upgrade my Windows 7 computer to Windows 8, can I then use my old Windows 7 disc and product key to install Windows 7 on another computer?"

No. The Windows 8 Upgrade license replaces the previous Windows 7 (or Windows Vista or Windows XP) license.

To be clear: your old version of Windows that you upgraded from can no longer be used on your current, or any other, computer.

Just buy Windows 8 as a digital purchase, create a USB/DVD installer and once you get your new hardware install it on your PC.

You can use the upgrade for a clean install too.

Keep the email(print)of the order you receive in your email because it will allow you to go back and re download Windows 8 in case you need it.

If you have problems activating Windows just call Microsoft tech support and they will manually activate it for you.

You will likely want to install one of these too to restore the Start Menu:
