So I thought that if you get a SB motherboard you only lose pcie3 but didn't realise that you lose the usb 3.0 ports too. My motherboard is asrock pro z77 extreme 4 and I'm wondering if the usb 3.0 slots will still work. I went with the 2500k since it overclocks better but it seems that perhaps I've made the wrong choice. Any suggestions?

NO, install this drivers and u are fine.

USB 3.0 - 2 x Rear USB 3.0 ports by Intel® Z77, support USB 1.0/2.0/3.0

- 2 x Rear USB 3.0 ports by ASMedia ASM1042, support USB 1.0/2.0/3.0

Plus headers for the front panel and such.
- 1 x Front USB 3.0 header by Intel® Z77 (supports 2 USB 3.0 ports),

supports USB 1.0/2.0/3.0
U can definitely use this one -> ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 -> ... Latest Z77...

Its better choice for OC, it has more powere phases, that helps the stability and the OC.

I just build PC with this mobo and I like the BIOS, its looks like this.

Works as expected @ 4.4GHz

That is a great mobo choice for the CPU. It has good power design for OC.

Thank you for a quick reply. Yes it's a extreme 4 just like you suggested in the last thread. I am just wondering if I lose the usb 3.0 capabilities if I install the 2500k. I am kinda worried since I've just ordered my 2500k and discovered that it might take out the usb 3.0 features.
