Here's the current rig:

Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3
Intel Core I5 2500k Sandy Bridge
Corsair H100 Water Cooler (Push/Pull exhaust)
16gb Corsair Vengeance 4x4gb DDR3 1600mhz 9-9-9-24
OCZ Vertex3 SSD (Boot Drive)
Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm (Data Drive)
Asus Black 12x BluRay Writer
EVGA GTX 580 Classifed Ultra (1000mhz / 2000mhz / 2300mhz)
OCZ Z Series Gold 1000w PSU
Cooler Master HAF-X (with optional 2nd top 200mm exhaust fan)

I am running dual monitors @ 1920x1080p on the GTX 580 Classy

I want to hook my 57" 1080p TV up to the desktop to watch netflix, bluray, etc.

I have an old GTX 280 and my mobo supports dual GPU, but I have not heard anything definitive about running 2 dissimilar cards on the same mobo in order to accomplish a 2+1 viewing setup.

So, forum, can I add this old card and run it as a slave for my TV? The other option would be a DVI splitter to Clone Monitor2?

Why not use plug it in the motherboard HDMI slot?

I was under the impression that when a discreet GPU is installed, the onboard GPU is disabled. Amirite?
