Hi,
I've read quite a bit of reviews but I just want to see more opinion.

I am thinking of buying

CORSAIR HX750W (semi-modular)

or

XFX 750W PRO750W (non-modular)

What do you guys think?
Both of them are on sale.
Both good company.

Corsair 114.99 + probably pick up or 10 shipping
XFX 89.99 + 10 shipping

Corsair would be the same brand as my case (Corsair 500R although it doesn't matter much)

Corsair HX750W model is a bit old (2009 I think?) but 80 silver
XFX is 80 bronze

Thanks!

Corsair 750HX is discontinued. It's replacement is the HX750. 80 Plus Gold. Made by CWT.

XFX is made by Seasonic.

The original 750HX and XFX 750 Pro have good reviews. Personally, I would get the XFX and save $25.

Oh I guess that's why there is a big sale on them.
I think the one I am looking at is the older discontinued version

Part number: CMPSU-750HX

Read this review about the Hx750. Its 80+ Gold and it can deliver up to 910 W if u need it with 80%+ .So does the XFX but it drops below 80% . As fo 750W both are good PSU but the HX is worth the 25$

I don't think that's the version I am getting.
The part number is CMPSU-750HX and it is 80 silver.
I guess it's the older discontinued version so it's on sale

Another PSU I am looking at is Antec TruePower New 750W.
PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W

Let me know if you guys have any experience with those.
Thanks!

all the PSU you mentioned, corsair, xfx, antec, and PC & P are very good units and more then capable of providing quality performance. you won't make a wrong choice picking one. If you just want a good 750w, then just get the cheapest of the four. otherwise look at things that you may find important to you such as warranty (i think the PC & P is seven years), being modular, efficiency, cable length (although all of them are long enough for the 500R), number of SATA cables, etc., etc.,

I agree with ct615

They're all good power supplies.

Ah found the corsair update note

http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/hx-gold/

So there was refresh in June.

So most likely, the 750HX sold by retailers are the older version (80 silver - not that there is anything wrong with that. the older version had great reviews from everywhere)

Both good
The Silencer has a longer warranty and is slightly more efficient
The Antec is partially modular
At some point you're going to need to throw a dart a the board and choose one, all that have been mentioned in the thread are of good quality

I agree.
I thought it was PC&C, Antec < Corsair, XFX
in terms of company name wise but I guess they are all similar.

Probably going for at least semi-modular unless it is a lot more expansive.

So either Antec true power new 750W
or
Corsair 750HX

Corsair 750HX is more efficient but also more expansive. ($25)

basically I have to decide if 80 silver is $25 better than 80 bronze (note the corsair that is on sale is the older version which is 80 silver not 80 gold)

The difference in efficiency is around 4%, not enough to worry about imo
