Frustrating 2600XT BSOD Issue

Hello everyone,

About 2 months ago I started getting freezes randomly on the computer. It didn't matter if I was on the desktop idle, gaming, or on the Internet. I couldn't do anything other than do a hard restart.

I did the following and narrowed it down:

1. Memtest - Ran through 7 passes overnight - came back with 0 errors.
2. Repartitioned HD, clean install of Windows 7.
3. Ran Microsoft Update, downloaded latest MoBo and GPU drivers.

The computer is also completely free of dust, and temperatures are standard under load, nothing excessive at all.

So I get 2 errors now - all relating to the GPU.

1. The computer will freeze for about 10 seconds, and the screen will either go black, or turn a solid color like grey, blue, or brown. Then it will restart.

2. I'll get a BSOD saying "Your video driver did not successfully recover", and that "atikmpag.sys" is the file to blame.

I did an uninstall of the latest 12.x drivers for my card, ran Driver Sweep in safe mode, then installed a more stable 10.3 version - still no luck.

Can anyone help me with this?

Try another vid card, gonna guess you card is going bad, its getting old afterall, or your PSU.
