64 MB in parallel

I have an HP Pavilion n3215 notebook with 32 MB RAM. I bought 64 MB RAM online and popped it in one of the slots. Definite improvement. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered another 64 MB RAM for a little cheaper from another site. But when I put the two together in the two slots, they do not work together. It will only read 64 MB RAM. Each chip works, each slot works. But they do not work together. Tech support was no help, as was the HP troubleshoot guide, so I thought I'd come here before attempting HP again. Anyone able to help?

Is there a maximum limit to how much RAM you can put into that system?

The limit is either 256 or 512, I don't remember. I'm shooting for 128 MB.
