7970, defaulting to smaller display size on monitor

Hey guys i just installed a new sapphire powered Radeon 7970. Once I installed the drivers with the provided CD my computer reset and rebooted with a default screen size smaller than the monitors capable projection size (a one inch black border around the edge of the "displayed screen"). I have the resolution set to the max and have tried lesser resolutions. The screen is a 24" LG 1080P monitor.
Any suggestions?
