Running too hot ?

AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1GHz. w/ Sabertooth 990 MB no OCs and idle. CPU Temp at idle 62C. Running just a browser with streaming temp at 76C. What is the max temp for this CPU. Would liquid cooling help. BTW room temp id 87F

That temp seems high for idle. I have a AMD with an overclock and at idle I am at 32C. Did you build the PC yourself, if so what thermal paste did you use? You may have to reapply

Is that CPU case temp or core temp? Here are the specs for that processor including max operating temp (case).

But idle temp is way too high.

That seems high even for a case with poor ventilation. Your heat sink is probably not sitting correctly. If you want to try something quickly, try lying over your computer so that the heat sink is above the CPU. This allows gravity to help set the heat sink in place. Check your temps to see if an improvement. Regardless, you will need to remove, reapply thermal paste and reattach.

With an 87F room, you should not expect to get 32C like avenseth

Yes, I built it myself and used the paste that came with the Chip. The chassis is a Thermaltake Level 10 GT and will accept a Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme with no problem. This weekend will install the liquid cooling and change the paste. What is recommended ?

Also, during monitoring the temp I noticed the V-Core 1 & 2 are running at 41C at idle. This while the CPU shows 58C. No apps running.
What is the difference?
